MAHA, which stands for Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture & Agrotourism, is the premier agricultural event in Malaysia. The 2022 edition, themed "Food Security for the Future," was held from August 4-14 at MAEPS Serdang, Malaysia. This biennial event focused on showcasing the agricultural and agro-based industries, creating a crucial platform for government bodies, businesses, and innovators to connect and collaborate.
MAHA 2022 provided a comprehensive view of the agricultural ecosystem, covering everything from input suppliers, farmers, and traders to processors, distributors, logistics, consumers, and related industries. The event also emphasized the integration of data analytics, automation, and cutting-edge technology in modern farming.
One of the groundbreaking features of MAHA 2022 was its hybrid format, blending in-person and virtual experiences. This approach broadened the event’s reach, enhancing engagement and driving industry growth and revenue.
The exhibition also played a significant role in encouraging young entrepreneurs to enter the agro-food sector. By promoting sustainable and profitable practices, MAHA helped cultivate a thriving, environmentally responsible agricultural landscape.
On Day 5 of the MAHA visit, the exploration began at the G2G Valley, featuring a diverse range of avian species in the Avian Urban Park. Visitors marveled at various poultry breeds, including Blue Slate, Pekin, Rosecomb, and Ayam Serama, alongside unique varieties like Ayam Cemani and Ayam Janggut. The tour also highlighted the role of the Malaysia Ornamental Poultry Association in preserving these breeds. The journey continued at the Animal Garden G2G Goat2Go farm, where the exhibits showcased goats, exotic cattle breeds like Limousin and Belgium Blue, and unique farming tools such as the Sima chopper and Tongkat cobra. At the G2G Garden Hall, a special focus was on bird nests, veterinary research on cattle and poultry vaccines, and organic farming practices. Visitors also learned about the Animal Identification Program and agricultural training certification. The experience expanded to include a goat showcase, a visit to the Felcra Bio Valley, and a close-up look at animals like rusa (deer) and porcupines. The day concluded with visits to food courts, exhibition halls, and a variety of attractions like the Greenhouse, the Agro Job Fair, and the Agro Edutainment zone, wrapping up with a final stop at the Castle of Fruits for plant shopping.
